Volunteers may choose to commit to morning or afternoon shifts (or both) for one to five days per week.
Garage Sale
The Interfaith Garage Sale serves two purposes for the Interfaith Food Bank. Firstly, funds raised from the Garage Sale help to purchase food and to cover other operating expenses associated with the Food Bank. Secondly, the Garage Sale offers a service to the individuals and families we serve by providing second hand items at reasonable prices, right on site.

Maintenance
The Interfaith Food Bank is recruiting those who have knowledge and skills in landscaping, carpentry or painting to volunteer on an on-going basis to maintain our facility, indoors and out. Volunteer duties will vary from general clean-up to snow removal, to site repairs, or inside building projects as required.
Volunteers who work in Maintenance positions are able to make short or long term commitments to the position, and hours will vary dependent on both the volunteer and our project schedule. Volunteers may choose to commit to morning or afternoon shifts (or both) for one to five days per week. Occasionally, Interfaith Food Bank will host Work-Bee Weekends to complete projects, so Maintenance volunteers can also sign up to be called as these events arise.
Office
Volunteers assist with reception of donors and visitors, photocopying, stuffing envelopes and answering phones. Observation and training are involved with of this position.
Volunteers may choose to commit to morning or afternoon shifts (or both) for one to five days per week. We have the ability to be fairly flexible with Office Volunteer time commitments; however we do prefer those who can maintain a more consistent schedule. There are certain events during the year (Christmas, Fund-raising Campaigns, Back to School Program, etc.) when the food bank requires more assistance in the office area, and volunteers can make short term commitments to assist us with these activities.
Repackaging
Volunteers assemble diabetic bundles, goody bags, and baby bundles according to posted lists. Repackaging of food items is also done by volunteers in this area. Observation and training are involved with all positions.
Shifts for repackaging volunteers are fairly flexible, but we prefer a regular weekly commitment, if possible.
Warehouse
Volunteers assist with sorting and packaging food and other items, distributing food hampers, sweeping and washing floors and tables and general clean-up. Volunteers will be primarily responsible for one of the three following positions: Hamper Builder, Sorter, or Warehouse. There are certain events during the year (Christmas, Fund-raising Campaigns, Back to School Program, etc.) when the food bank requires more assistance, and volunteers can make short term commitments to assist us with these activities.
Volunteers who work in Warehouse positions must be available for a minimum of 3 hours at any one time, and must be willing to make a long term commitment to the position. Volunteers may choose to commit to morning or afternoon shifts (or both) for one to five days per week.
Special Events
The Interfaith Food Bank is recruiting volunteers to work on an on-call basis to help out at special fund-raising events off-site that raise food and money donations for the food bank. These events may involve selling tickets, handing out information or accepting and thanking people for donations of food and/or money. These events usually fall outside regular business hours, so an ability to commit to evening and weekend shifts is necessary.
